I remember in my very first lesson with a pro being made to hit shot after shot without worrying where the ball went, but concentrating solely on the finish position, ie weight on left foot, facing the target, right foot resting on the toes. It’s a great way of instilling that in golf you are not hitting the ball – it just gets in the way of the swing, which is the all-important thing. This notion of coming through is one of the things that Gary Player highlights in this video of a pre-round lesson delivered to a raggle taggle band of aspiring golfers at the opening of the Mogador golf resort in 2009. There are some helpful pearls of wisdom here, along with some reminiscences from his long career plus a few thoughts about recent developments and the future of the game. Worth a look.
